New Releases from the Women of EMI and Virgin Classics

Project Overview

This advertising campaign was created to promote a series of new releases from leading female classical artists on EMI Classics and Virgin Classics. The campaign featured prominent artists such as Joyce DiDonato, Natalie Dessay, Angela Gheorghiu, and Maria Callas, among others, celebrating their contributions to classical music through visually compelling and strategically designed promotional materials.

Creative Approach

Each advertisement was designed to capture the unique artistic essence of the featured performer while maintaining brand consistency across the campaign. The layout and typography were carefully selected to reflect the elegance and refinement of classical music, ensuring that each design aligned with the aesthetic and prestige of EMI and Virgin Classics.

Key elements of the campaign included:

Artist-Centric Visuals: High-quality imagery of the performers, emphasizing their stage presence and artistry.

Typography & Layout: A sophisticated typographic treatment to evoke classical refinement while maintaining modern readability.

Color Palette: Subtle yet rich tones to complement the album themes and classical genre.

Consistency Across Platforms – Adapted the designs for various placements, ensuring a cohesive brand identity across print and digital media.

Execution & Impact

The advertisements were strategically placed in major classical music publications such as International Piano, Gramophone, Opera News, and BBC Music Magazine to target an engaged audience of classical music enthusiasts. The campaign successfully reinforced EMI and Virgin Classics’ reputation as premier labels for classical music, drawing attention to their featured female artists and their latest releases.

This project highlights my expertise in designing high-end advertising materials that not only align with an established brand identity but also effectively engage niche audiences in the classical music industry. The campaign’s refined design approach ensured that each artist’s unique style and the overall prestige of EMI and Virgin Classics were elegantly conveyed to their target market.
